Browsing
Browsing needs no account and sets no cookies. We count pageviews and clicks ourselves, on our server, with no analytics script and no third-party tracker. Each visit is counted under a hash of your IP address, your browser's user agent and a random value that changes every day. The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address, yesterday's hash cannot be linked to today's, and the IP address is never stored. We also keep your country and whether the device is mobile or desktop. We keep the website you came from, the utm_source tag on the link if there is one, and the text of any search you make here.
Clicks
When you click Add in Grok Bot, we add one to that bot's count for the day and send you to x.ai. The click is recorded with the same daily hash, country, device and referrer details as a pageview, and nothing else about you.
Signing in with X
If you sign in with X we store your X user id, handle, display name, avatar URL, the date your X account was created and your follower count. The last two decide whether a vote counts toward popularity: accounts under 30 days old or with fewer than 10 followers vote, but their votes do not move the score. We store the access token X gives us, encrypted, so you stay signed in. We ask only for permission to read your profile and posts. We never post to X unless you tick the box and press the button for that action. A session cookie named sid keeps you signed in for 365 days. It is the only cookie we set.
Votes, submissions, reports and claims
These are tied to your account so we can enforce one vote per account and stop spam. Your handle shows on bots you submit or claim.
Who else sees data
Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when a page loads. Sign in with X sends you to X. Clicking Add in Grok Bot sends you to x.ai. Their privacy policies apply there. Nothing else is shared, and nothing is sold.
Keeping and deleting
Sessions expire after 365 days. Raw analytics events are kept for 3 months, then only daily totals remain. Account data stays until you ask us to delete it. To delete your account and its votes, or to ask what we hold, email hello@isthereabot.com from the X account's email, or message us from that X account.
